  • Expertise & Background

    Dr. Pearson received her doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Antioch University New England in Keene, NH, with a major area of study in Clinical Health Psychology. She completed her predoctoral internship at the University of Colorado School of Medicine, including a major rotation in Family Medicine and minor rotations in Bone Marrow Transplant & Oncology and Behavioral Sleep Medicine. She then completed a 2-year Postdoctoral Fellowship in Primary Care Psychology and Medical Education at the University of Massachusetts Chan Medical School in the Department of Family Medicine and Community Health.

    She has expertise in providing evidence-based interventions in integrated primary care and specialty medical settings, as well as contributing to the behavioral science education of family medicine residents. She is also passionate about finding ways to contribute to individual and systemic wellness initiatives that can reduce the impact of burnout and promote well-being of healthcare providers. Dr. Pearson’s clinical interests and areas of specialty include chronic pain, behavioral sleep medicine, health behavior change (i.e. smoking cessation), chronic disease management, couples and relationship therapy, working with the LGBTQ+ community, stressors related to fertility treatment, and stressors related to supporting a partner or family member through health challenges and medical treatment.

    Dr. Pearson takes a collaborative, trauma-informed, and person-centered approach to therapy, and tailors intervention to the unique needs of each individual or couple she is working with. She is committed to honoring diversity in her practice and understanding the impact of cultural and societal influences on experiences in life. Dr. Pearson values the therapeutic relationship and the importance of a strong foundation of rapport and empathy. In both individual and couple therapy, she works with her clients to identify goals for therapy that are aligned with what is most important to them in life. Her approach includes exploring the connection between thoughts, feelings, physical symptoms, and behaviors, engaging in strengths-based problem-solving, and building active coping skills for continued success outside of the therapy space focused on improving functioning and living a values-driven life in the face of past, current, and future challenges.
